A Great Place to Live

“We live in a resort,” says Cocoa Village architect Jack Rood.  “I tell my employees to work hard five days a week and then spend the weekends enjoying the resort.”

Brevard County truly is a magical environment.  Visitors to the Space Coast often are drawn to the area’s 72-mile stretch of spacious beaches on the Atlantic Ocean.  To get to the beaches, most acquire at least a cursory acquaintance with the Banana and Indian Rivers that run north and south through the county, separating the barrier islands from the mainland.

This combination of salt and fresh water does more than provide recreation to humans.  The Indian River Lagoon (IRL) system is the most biologically diverse estuary in North America and supports up to 4,000 species of animals and plants.

Brevard County offers various recreational activities due to the warm temperate climate.

Brevard is one of six coastal Florida counties located within this prolific watershed, which combines a warm temperate climate zone and a subtropical zone.  In January, the average daily temperature in Brevard ranges from a low of 50 to a high of 71.  In July, the range is 73 to 90 degrees.  The average rainfall is 53 inches spread out across 116 days.  That doesn’t mean The Sunshine State is wet for nearly half the year, however.  Most of the rain falls on hot summer afternoons for a short time – usually just long enough to cool things off some.

To put it mildly, life flourishes on the Space Coast, as our thriving municipalities prove.

The architecture helps give Brevard a resort like atmosphere.

Unique restaurants like Murdock's in Cocoa Village add a distinct charm to the living environment to the Space Coast.

There are many restaurants and eateries that satisfy Brevard's appetite.
