Brevard Public Schools

Under the leadership of Dr. Richard DiPatri, the Brevard County Public School System has consistently raised the bar, not just for our county, but for the state as well.  BPS recently received the Governor’s Sterling Award, the state’s most prestigious acknowledgment for outstanding achievement in organizational excellence.  It is only the second district to ever win this award and the first district to win in more than a decade.

With a strategic plan of “First in Florida,” the public school system strives to serve each student.  It encourages excellence in teaching, parental involvement and an atmosphere that inspires students to build a solid foundation of knowledge.

Brevard Public Schools are graded based on the FCAT, a state test that measures student understanding in different subjects.

Eleven of Brevard County’s public high schools qualified as state “A” schools as did 23 of its 27 secondary schools.  School grades are based on the FCAT, a state test which accesses student understanding of state standards in reading, math, writing and science.

Magnet Schools of Brevard focus on different subjects such as Arts, Science, Math, and Technology.Magnet schools include Cambridge Elementary (Arts & Science), Endeavor Elementary (Science and Integrated Technology), Gardendale (Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Math/Science and Micro Society), Golfview Elementary (Math/Science and Technology), and McNair Middle Magnet (School of Performing Arts, Gifted/Accelerated, Math/Science and Technology).

Brevard Public Schools’ students held steady in 2007 Scholastic Achievement Test (SAT) composite scores when compared to last year’s scores.  The county’s composite score was 1032, the same as 2006.  This is 39 points above the state composite score of 993: 24 points above in math, and 15 points above in reading/verbal.
